La Cafette

What: Modern French bistro with a menu of French classics and bright, charming decor

Where: 103 Havermeyer St., Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York City

Perfect for: A charming dinner or brunch date

After a long day of exploring Brooklyn, La Cafette‘s classic French menu sounded incredibly satisfying. This cute little bistro is known for their meat and seafood, and although the menu is simple, this restaurant is far from boring. I opted for mussels with garlic and fries, with one of their many French wines to wash it down. In addition to their fresh and filling seafood, you can opt for burgers, steak, or rotisserie chicken, or if you’re not so keen on meat, they have soups, salads, and even a vegan stew.

If the extensive wine list doesn’t satisfy you, they have a selection of refreshing French-inspired cocktails as well as some digestifs for after dinner. La Cafette is also known for their brunch, where they serve toasts and egg dishes in addition to their meats. If you have a sweet tooth, you can finish up with one of their desserts, which include cake, ice cream, and Nutella profiteroles. Although the decor here is chic, with tropical art deco influences and trendy neon signs, it doesn’t feel overdone, and the environment is relaxed enough that you can really enjoy a conversation. Add this one to your list for a nice dinner in Brooklyn.
